WHO WE ARE

Our main focus

Our Mission: "Offer a secure and nurturing space for individuals transitioning from incarceration, fostering personal development, self-reliance, and positive transformation, with a focus on reducing recidivism rates. We aim to empower individuals of color, immigrants, refugees, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, to reintegrate successfully into society after incarceration in San Joaquin & Alameda Counties, thereby preventing homelessness." ~ KoKo Reddick | Co Founder

We are committed to providing a structured and supportive living environment that encourages personal responsibility, accountability, and the development of essential life skills.

Through a combination of counseling, vocational training, educational opportunities, and community engagement, we aim to equip our residents with the necessary tools and resources to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society.

We believe in taking action with urgency and care to serve those who need us most. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others. It’s time to make real change.

KoKo Ménage Housing Project Inc. is a non-profit 501(3)(c) based out of San Joaquin County and will soon be available in Alameda County as well. We will be open effective July 2024 (or sooner) as the Executive Director KoKo Reddick works diligently on the set-up and negotiations with government & county entities to secure proper funding as the organization is in its premature phase of development. The first facility will be located in Stockton, California near downtown. The goal is to keep our program participants close to government resources like the social service building, the parole/probation offices for easy access to day reporting and full access to the Regional Transit District transportation lines.

We strive to offer comprehensive and evidence-based programs and services that address the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals reentering society after being incarcerated. Our mission is guided by the belief that every person deserves a second chance, and we are dedicated to promoting rehabilitation, reducing recidivism rates, and fostering a sense of empowerment and hope among our residents.

Our mission statement reflects our dedication to creating a positive and nurturing atmosphere that fosters personal growth, resilience, and a sense of belonging. By promoting a holistic approach to reentry, we strive to empower individuals to overcome challenges, break the cycle of incarceration, and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

We are committed to providing a structured and supportive living environment that encourages personal responsibility, growth, accountability, and the development of essential life skills.

Through a combination of counseling, vocational training, educational opportunities, and community engagement, we aim to equip our residents with the necessary tools and resources to rebuild their lives and become productive members of society.

Our strength lies not only in the words we stand by, but most importantly in the actions of our initiatives. From the moment we started our work in 2024, we understand that by working together as a community we could overcome our challenges much more efficiently, and that is why KoKo Ménage Housing Project Inc. was formed and founded in the state of California.

We strive to make a positive change in all of our pursuits.

WAYS WE HELP

The Focus of Our Efforts

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

We see every challenge as an opportunity, and our Economic Development initiative helps KoKo Ménage Housing Project ensure that those we serve are better prepared to persevere in the unique situations they find themselves in.

ASSEMBLY BILL 109

Through the AB109 initiative, we have the potential to make real and positive change in our community. This is one of our key areas of focus here at KoKo Ménage Housing Project and a main source of much success for our Non-Profit.

HOUSING

KoKo Ménage Housing Project is dedicated to putting our San Joaquin County community first. Our transitional housing program provides a much-needed service for ex-offenders returning back to our community. Lend a helping hand and join our efforts today.

Transitional Housing

We are here to guide you, every step of the way....

This project launch will help improve the purpose & success rates of helping those being released out of custody into San Joaquin & Alameda County on parole, probation, PCRS or AB109 and becoming strong pillars in the community with the ability to work parallel with other neighboring non-profit organizations and Community Based Organizations to address these transitional housing needs in the first 6 months post release. Our core values, our mission and organizational focus is that KoKo Ménage Housing Project Inc. will provide a warm hand off of re-entry services to the formerly incarcerated.

The purpose of our halfway/transitional program is to serve as a bridge or support network between rehab and independent life. Supported by staff and peers, participants are encouraged to develop life and social skills to better cope with society and recovery, especially those fresh out of prison and jails. Recidivism feeds the cycle of incarceration by leading to higher rates of re-arrest and re-imprisonment, which strains law enforcement resources, overwhelms courts and corrections systems, and drains taxpayer dollars that could be better utilized for rehabilitation and prevention programs like KoKo Ménage Housing Project, Inc. Some of the most crucial plan components needed include, the connection with referrals to agencies that provide educational programming, employment training through comprehensive workforce developments at an adult school, outpatient behavioral health treatment, residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment, transitional housing for a soft landing upon release from custody and other supportive services from the San Joaquin County Human Services Agency. These are the types of services, combined with effective community supervision that have the potential of decreasing recidivism over time.

The goal of KoKo Ménage Housing Project, Inc. is to provide a substance-free, healthy, safe, and family-like environment to support people being released from custody on probation or parole. The first 60 days are imperative to the formerly incarcerated. Although the structure of each residence is different, they will all focus on peer support and providing connections to additional services that promote long-term success of staying out of jail which helps to reduce recidivism. This is a new program as of 03/15/2024 but we see this as an ongoing program with hopes of opening more housing projects within San Joaquin County & Alameda County in 2024-2025.

KoKo Ménage Housing Project will encourage its participants the high importance of health care and having a work life balance as a way to improve the health of this population. A healthy work-life balance protects their health, which means they’ll take fewer sick days and have more energy for work and school. Yearly routine physicals/blood work, dental cleanings, permanent dental fillings (as opposed to temporary), eye exams, glasses and prostate checks are a few examples of what is encouraged for the participants even if they have Medi-Cal. There will be some participants that will require lifelong medical needs like medications and access to mental health providers to deal with pre-existing health conditions, trauma, and past adversities. Participants would be required to seek health services they may need upon release using healthcare referrals.
